Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was on Friday taken to court by eight former board members of the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) over alleged unlawful suspension.
The suspended board members were: Raphael Nzomo, Kennedy Omoke, Lawrence Ouma, John Wanyama, Joanne Mwangi, Rosemary Khamati, Mercy Mutua and Samuel Ojanga.
According to the case filed, the eight are seeking to stop the County government officials from harassing or investigating them.
Furthermore, they sought to stop all operations of the board until the case is determined.

Additionally, the eight stated that since their suspension. the business of NCWSC was deadlocked adding to the reasons why they should be reinstated.
They added that the County government's decision to suspend them denied them their rights to human dignity and equality.
In August, weeks after assuming office, Governor Sonko suspended the members of the board following a one-week workers' strike that had caused a water shortage in the City.
Speaking with the workers at their Kampala offices, Sonko stated that he had decided to stop the board from transacting any business after meeting union members and listening to their grievances.
“I will do an official communication to the board stopping them from transacting any business until all the grievances are heard and auditing is done,” Sonko stated.
He further noted that the workers and Union officials had agreed to call off the strike and go back to work.
Nairobi County Workers Union Branch Secretary Matilda Kimetto, while addressing the same meeting, noted that the workers had been protesting over a plan to privatize the firm.
