David Rudisha Pulls Stunt on Live TV

Kenya's 800m World and Olympic Champion David Rudisha on Friday pulled a stunt during a live TV interview meant to document his training ahead of the 2018 track season.

While training in Silversprings Hotel in Nairobi, the track champion was running on a treadmill in the gym when he acted as though he was experiencing sudden pain in his abdominal region.

On his Twitter timeline minutes after the incident, Rudisha claimed that he suffered from acute appendicitis while training.

"I have just gotten acute appendicitis have to cut training short. Headed to the hospital in a swift ambulance," he wrote.

Minutes later he clarified that it was actually a stunt trying to highlight emergency response in the city.

"This was a stunt by emergency services to highlight need for better emergency response," he added.

He even had a sense of humor in his posts joking that he had to run to the hospital due to traffic on Ngong Rd.

Mr Rudisha was accompanied by Brian Odhiambo who spent 18 hours in an ambulance trying to save Alex Madaga.

The film 18 Hours was based on Mr Odhiambo's experience.

"The truth is we will never be safe until we fix our health care system," he wrote.
