Nyanza Leaders Reveal Why They Need Jobs in Uhuru's Government

Jubilee Party-allied leaders from Nyanza have given their reasons as to why they should be part of President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.

The leaders, who campaigned for President Kenyatta in the Opposition stronghold ahead of the August 8 election, divulged that the appointments would help foster reconciliation and spur development.

Central Nyanza Jubilee official Steve Mwanga on Sunday stated: "We shall spur economic growth in the region through political appointments we are expecting from the government.”

Jubilee's Chief Campaigner in the region, James Rege, noted that the President was keen on developing all parts of the country regardless of their political choices.

He stated: “President Kenyatta will steer clear of politics and focus on developing all parts of the country, irrespective of who voted for him or did not.”

Rege, a former Karachuonyo MP, is tipped to be appointed to President Kenyatta's government as a reward for his efforts in promoting the party in Nyanza.

He defected to Jubilee from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) prior to the August 8 poll, but opted not to defend his seat.

A report in the Nation suggests that Rege, an engineer, could be handed the Information Communication Technology (ICT) docket.

Other than Mwanga and the former MP, Nyanza leaders who are poised to make it to the next Government are former Homa Bay Gubernatorial candidate Tom Alila and his running mate Michael Ogolla.

The leaders campaigned vigorously in the region ahead of the August 8 election, but not much activity was witnessed from the party in the run-up to the October 26 repeat poll.
