Raila Orders Audit Into ODM's Relationship With NASA

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has reportedly set up a task-force to audit the relationship between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the 3 other NASA-affiliate parties; Wiper, ANC and Ford-K.

This came after ODM delegates piled intense pressure on him to ditch the coalition during the National Governing Council (NGC) and National Executive Council (NEC) meetings held last week.

Odinga, however, asked the ODM loyalists to remain calm, reportedly describing NASA as 'a large family'.

According to reports by The Nation, Odinga stated: “You must see this coalition like a large traditional family where there are varying interests and sibling rivalries. You must also see it as a marriage.

"Not all marriages are blissful,” he continued.

The delegates maintained that the 3 other principals were undermining ODM's cause and had only fallen short of openly denouncing the coalition.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati is said to have asked Odinga to pull out of any deal that would not advance ODM's interests.

“We do not need to be 300 MPs to be effective or to fight for our cause.

“You can see what [Julius] Malema is doing in South Africa. He has only 27 members in the House but they are effective. They have contributed a lot in bringing [Jacob] Zuma down,” Arati is quoted by The Nation.

ODM Deputy Party leader, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, told the delegates to focus on ODM matters and avoid speculation on their partners.

“I am going to repeat the name ODM so many times that, in the end, all of you will leave here with only one thing in your head: The only party is ODM,” he stated.
