Nelson Havi Reveals Raila's Role in Facilitating Miguna's Return

Troubled NRM self-declared general Miguna Miguna was forcefully deported to Dubai on Wednesday night and one of his lawyers, Nelson Havi, has revealed that contrary to reports, NASA leader Raila Odinga is actively working behind the scenes to ensure his return to Kenya.

Havi lauded Odinga for providing leadership and faulted Miguna's delayed return on Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

"H E Raila Amolo Odinga has actively and effectively provided us leadership and guidance in our efforts towards facilitating the re-entry of Miguna Miguna.

"He cannot be faulted for Dr Fred Matiang’i’s refusal to obey Court Orders," he wrote on his Twitter page.

Last week, reports emerged that Odinga made calls to President Uhuru Kenyatta during Miguna's detention at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

According to the Opposition leader's allies, he reached out to the President asking him to intervene in rescuing the embattled lawyer.

The Standard reported that the opposition leader did not manage to reach President Kenyatta on his personal line and had to go through one of the President's aides.

The source who spoke to journalists further stated that the President assured the NASA chief that he would immediately look into the matter.

"As if someone was monitoring the conversation, immediately Raila ended the call, a team of plainclothes policemen arrived and violently bundled Miguna out from where he was standing, in the full glare of the lawyers and Raila himself," the source narrated.

Miguna is still holed up in Dubai and on Friday gave an update on his medical condition.

“My left side is extremely painful. I’m yet to get toxicology tests done on the chemicals the state thugs violently and illegally injected me with on Tuesday evening,” he noted.
