Governor Alfred Mutua Exposes Peculiar Trait About All Corrupt Officials

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has iterated his support to President Uhuru Kenyatta on his renewed war against corruption.

Mutua indicated that speaking to his county residents on Thursday, they noted how some people have acquired more wealth than their salaries and businesses can account for.

"They own more than they earn. The only conclusion is that unless this wealth and liquidity can be justified, it is stolen and fraudulently acquired money through corruption," he quipped.

Mutua further indicated that the laws regarding wealth declaration in the country should be enforced as a measure to fight corruption.

"There are government officials who have suddenly become extremely wealthy in a baffling way.  There are others who we all suspect are cutting corrupt deals, grabbing land, receiving bribes and living exorbitant lifestyles as we all watch.

"They are behaving with impunity and stealing from us. They are getting richer as the rest of Kenyans are getting poorer.  This is unacceptable," Mutua lamented.

Mutua urged the concerned agencies to set up special teams to continuously audit government officials, senior government leaders, and politicians.

He further noted how the runaway inflation has caused suffering among the youth suffer and before our farmers are conned.

"For how long will the dreams of our people, the aspirations of our youth and the quest by our parents for a good life be stolen from us by public servants? Our youth are suffering," Mutua questioned.

"Life has become a survival because of a few.  It is time for us to say enough is enough. The war against corruption has been made so technically complicated to shield the corrupt and to hound those working hard and honestly.

"A special audit team should be set up to dig into what we leaders have and to reveal unexplained wealth that can only be from corruption," he concluded.
