3 To Be Charged in Court For Posting False Terror Reports on Facebook

Three people from Machakos county are set to be arraigned in court today, Wednesday for allegedly using social media to spread false information on terror alerts.

The three suspects allegedly posted via Facebook, that the police had intercepted a planned Al Shabaab mission on a boarding school in the area.

They further claimed that the police had arrested the culprits and were holding them in custody.

Speaking to Citizen News,  Machakos County Commissioner Anne Gakuria denied both allegations and faulted the suspects for spreading rumors bound to cause panic.

She further cautioned citizens against posting false information on social media.

The suspects are currently being held at Mwala Police Station.
