The accountant was rushed to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Kisumu.

At the time of the publication of this article, reports were not clear on the extent of the official's injuries and neither were the attackers known.

However, Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum affirmed that his officers will investigate the matter and find the assailants.

The accountant is among other victims in the county who have been attacked by unknown gangs which are accused of terrorizing residents of the town.

Last month, a security guard was killed while three other people seriously injured during a night attack in Asumbi trading center in Homa Bay County.

Authorities have in the past blamed bodaboda riders for the continuous attacks on the locals following their "out of control" nature as termed by a local police.

Homa Bay Town East MCA Juma Awuor is recorded exclaiming," These bodaboda riders are now a threat to the security of Homa Bay people."
