US First Lady Melania Trump to Visit Kenya in October

  • United States First Lady Melania Trump is set to visit Kenya in her first solo trip to Africa.

    Speaking during the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, Melania stated that she will visit Kenya in October on her first major international solo trip.

    “I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children throughout the continent, while also learning about Africa’s rich culture and history,” read a statement in August.

    US President Donald Trump highlighted that the trip was something important to both of them as part of enhancing healthy relationships between the African countries and the United States.

    Her trip to Kenya comes a month after she hosted Kenya’s First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at the White House in Washington DC.

    The 48-year-old elaborated her anti-bullying campaign with Margaret and expressed her gratitude on social media.

    Melania revealed that she had especially enjoyed conversations centring on Mrs Kenyatta's Beyond Zero campaign.

    She added that they both shared a concern for the well-being of children.

    Kenya's First Lady accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to the US for the first visit following the election of President Donald Trump.

    During the trip, President Kenyatta stated that they had agreed to strengthen the Kenya-US partnership, especially in matters concerning security at the Horn of Africa region.
