Photos That Made President Uhuru Kenyatta a Trending Meme in South Africa

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been made the subject of plenty of online jokes in South Africa following his recent trip.

The past photos of Uhuru in very hilarious and compromising situations formed the basis through which netizens shared funny captions.

This coincided with the fact that he was in South Africa during the Global Citizen Festival that was held to celebrate 100 years since Nelson Mandela was born.

South Africans who were following the festival realised that people had been using President Kenyatta’s photos in memes.

At the event headlined by some of the world's biggest stars including Jay Z and Beyoncé, Uhuru spoke on prioritising education for the country's development.

The president stated, "Many global citizens who have called upon my administration to maintain its education budget above 20 per cent of our total budget."

"I want to go one step further, this year I pledge to you that in Kenya our education budget will be closer to 30 per cent of our total budget, making it probably the highest on the African continent," he noted in a speech.

Other Heads of State that were invited included Presidents Nana Akufo-Addo (Ghana), Paul Kagame (Rwanda) and Julius Maada Bio (Sierra Leone).

Celebrity and iconic talk-show host Oprah Winfrey delivered the keynote address.

Various nations across the globe pledged millions of dollars to programs continuing Mandela's legacy under the Global Citizen banner.
