3 Counties Sending the Highest Number of Students to National Schools

With form one admissions set to begin on January 7, 2019, three counties have been mentioned as sending the highest number of students to national schools.

Out of all the students who sat for their KCPE in 2018, students from Nairobi, Kiambu and Nakuru counties seemingly topped the list, qualifying for the enviable positions in top National schools.

Nairobi County tops the list with 3,152 out of the 59,345 former pupils joining prestigious national schools.

Out of the 52,811 pupils who sat for their KCPE in Nakuru County last year, 1,847 were selected to top schools around the country.

In Kiambu County, 1,768 out of the 41,295 former pupils are set to be admitted to the crème de la crème of Secondary schools starting Monday.

In aggregate, 31,337 out of the 1,049,106 pupils who sat for their national exams last year are set to join the 103 national schools all around the country.

Out of the cumulative number of students set to join national schools, 16,435 are male while 14,902 are female.

While these students, most who scored 400 marks and above, are lucky to be joining their schools of choice, some are disappointed about the form one selection.

Most faulted the computerized National Education Management Information System (Nemis) for unfairly admitting them to schools they did not even choose.

The system required that all students download their admission letters online while receiving a Unique Personal Identifier which the students will use during their learning journey.

Nemis, which was implemented for the first time blocks Secondary school principals from issuing admission letters in hardcopy.
