NTV’s investigative journalist Dennis Okari on Saturday proposed to his girlfriend identified as Naomi Joy at Eka Hotel, Nairobi.
According to reports, the engagement was a secret affair attended only by close family members and friends.
The news anchor first gave a speech declaring that day was ordained by God and that whatever he was going to say was neither scripted nor was it rehearsed.
“This is going to be a special day for me and you because you are loving and God fearing person and I know that all the nice things I can get are from you, so today I wanted to just share these special moments,” he expressed.
He added that whatever answer he was going to get would forever be etched in his memory for as long as he lived. Okari then promised to love Joy with all the wisdom that God would grant.
At exactly 9:40 PM, he went down on one knee and popped the question.
“I can’t wait to do life with you, and I can’t wait to start the journey if only I get the answer that I am expecting. So before all these lovely people, family, friends and our parents here,”
“This ring is just a symbol of my commitments to the covenant that we are going to make in one of these fine days,” he stated.
The TV anchor continued, “So I want to ask you, Naomi Joy, with everything that I have and everything that I am will you marry me?”
Joy, completely overwhelmed by emotions, responded, “Yes!”
In 2018, the couple held a top-secret dowry ceremony that was held in Joy's rural home in Ukambani.
