Nazlin Umar Forms Movement Against Corrupt Leaders

Former Presidential candidate Nazlin Umar has formed a national movement to fight corruption.

The movement by the name People’s Revolution of Kenya is set to remove corrupt officers from their offices.

“I will continue to expose them by filing private prosecution cases against them (corrupt officials),” Nazlin stated.

Speaking outside the High court, the former presidential candidate stated she had sought leave from her job in order to be enjoined in the case against Mandera County Governor, Ali Roba.

“This journey has started with Mandera County and will spread to all Counties targeting corrupt leaders,” she added.

Nazlin continued stating the National Government had failed to act on corruption reports and it was the work of the people to defend their rights and taxes.

Simba Hasheem, a Mandera resident sued Governor Roba over misappropriation of Ksh56 million that belongs to the County - a case that Nazlin wants to be enjoined.

Principal Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi responded to the application stating Roba and three County officials had been granted two weeks to respond to the application.

Among the issues Hasheem has raised in the case, is the alleged procurement of armoured vehicles at a cost of Ksh16 million, which he claims was done without following the appropriate procedure.

He also cited the provision of ambulance services to Kenya Red Cross Society at a cost of Ksh40 million which he termed as irregular.
