Ian-Harriel Kowiti, a former aspirant for Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Uriri Constituency in Migori County, has put up one of his testicles for sale to help infertile men have children.
Speaking to a local magazine, Kowiti, who tried his hands in politics in the 2017 General Election as an independent candidate, expressed concern for fellow men who couldn't bear children.
“Imagine that there is someone out there who can’t have a child for one reason or another. I just want to share what I have," he commented.
The 27-year-old explained that he was ready to survive with one testicle, but noted that the beneficiary would have to pay at least Ksh500,000 for his precious gem.
“What is the need of having two of them (testicles) dangling between my legs if I can still do the job perfectly with just one? For a little profit of course!" he declared.
However, even though a man can still lead a healthy sex life with one testicle, medics have dismissed the idea of harvesting testicles.
Speaking to the local magazine, Dr David Kimani a urologist, affirmed that it was not possible to transplant testicles.
“It is impossible. I am only aware of penile transplant, but I have never heard of a procedure to transplant testicles,” he explained.
Another medic, Dr Huldah Adhanja, reiterated that it was unheard of for men to transplant testicles.
“Which man would accept to use another man’s testicles even if the transplant was possible? This is madness!” she stated.
Adhanja added that even though some people could be born with one testicle, that did not mean those with two could sell one and operate with the other.
She also noted that there was no local expertise or facilities for testicular transplant.
