Nine NTSA employees have been released after the Anti-terrorism Police Unit (APTU) withdrew terror-link allegations against them over the Dusit attack.
Jacqueline Githinji, Director of Registration and Licencing, her deputy Cosmas Ngesa, clerical officers, Irungu Irvin, Stephen Mbaka and Charles Ndung’u were among those released.
The employees were detained after APTU found two vehicles bearing the same registration number plate KCN 304E.
One of the vehicles was used to commission the terror attack while the other had been found in Kitengala.
Through the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the ATPU also released Gladys Kaari, Guleid Abdihakim, Hussein Khamis and insurance agent Zipporah Karanja.
Kaari was detained after Ali Salim Gichunge (leader of the six terrorists) withdrew cash at her M-Pesa shop without a national ID.
After investigations, state counsel Duncan Ondimu stated that ATPU did not find evidence linking them to the attack and is no longer interested in keeping them.
The state counsel added the six had been cooperating when investigators were ongoing.
According to Citizen Digital, he also stated that separate investigations were still ongoing, during which the suspects will report to the ATPU headquarters frequently.
Abdihakim, however, was released unconditionally.
