Strategy Criminals Are Using to Con Kenyans Using Margret Kenyatta’s Facebook Account

First Lady Margret Kenyatta has several parody accounts on Facebook, some of which are being operated by con men intending to defraud innocent Kenyans.

Impersonators are using the accounts to run projects purportedly empowering the youth, businesses or fighting poverty.

The parody accounts are used to do fake businesses. For example, one of the accounts is running motorcycle and tuk-tuk projects to create employment opportunities for the youth.

According to The Standard, when unsuspecting clients call to request for the motorbikes, they are required to pay Ksh3,500 as ‘logbook transfer fee’

They are also assured that ‘Mheshimiwa’ knows their case and the place they should pick the logbook.

State House Director of Digital, Innovations & Diaspora Communications, Dennis Itumbi, refuted claims the First Lady was running such activities.

He also cautioned anyone against paying any amount of money to the cons claiming to represent Ms Kenyatta.

This comes a month after Rachel Ruto, wife to the DP William Ruto warned that she was not running any competition that claimed to give free vehicles to Kenyans on her social media accounts.

“The page is a hoax, do not send any money or your personal information to anyone,” Racheal warned.

One Michael Mito was later arrested for impersonating the DP's wife.
