Sonko Reshuffles Cabinet for 5th Time

Details have emerged about Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's new changes to his cabinet team.

The new team is expected to be unveiled later in the week. The county currently has only five ministers and three more are waiting to be sworn in.

Charles Kerich who seems to be Sonko's 'Mr Fix it' has been transferred to the Finance docket from Lands and Housing department.

The transfer was made even though Economic Planning Chief Officer Winfred Kathagu had been vetted and approved to head the Finance department.

Transport CEC Mohamed Dagane has been moved to the Health docket. Dagane has been replaced by former Trade Minister Allan Igambi.

Only two executives retained their dockets, namely, Newton Munene (ICT and E-government) and Larry Wambua (Water).

Three departments, Environment, Trade, and Lands, will remain without any appointees.

Environment nominee Sonia Birdi was rejected by the County Assembly while Lucia Mulwa (Education) and Pauline Kahiga (Devolution) are yet to be sworn in as the county still lacks a substantive County Attorney.

Chief Officers were also affected in the reshuffle with Roads and Transport Chief Officer Fredrick Karanja moved to oversee Agriculture.

Muthama has replaced him at the Transport docket. Washington Makodingo, formerly Agriculture Chief Officer, is the new Health Chief Officer.

He takes over from Mohammed Salah who has moved to Housing and Urban Planning.
