Uhuru Speaks on Deep-rooted Love for Reggae Music

President Uhuru Kenyatta has on several occasions opened up on his longtime love for reggae music.

In a video dated June 27, 2011, a younger Uhuru who was then the Minister of Finance, was interviewed on the popular Churchill Show.

The host Daniel 'Churchill' Ndambuki is seen asking Uhuru what type of music he listens to, following which the current Kenyan president goes on to name several musicians.

It was at this point that Uhuru revealed his deeply rooted love for reggae music, with all the names on his list falling in that genre of music.

"I'm stuck in a certain age, my favorite musicians are UB40, Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs..." he disclosed.

Uhuru then went on to ask if he could dance along to a popular UB40 song with a member of the live band identified as Suzie.

His bold and unscripted move excited the crowd with his wife - Margaret Kenyatta applauding as Uhuru put his best foot forward on stage.

Six years later, Uhuru was at it again during an interview with popular radio presenter Daniel Githinji Mwangi best known as ‘Mbusii’ and his co-host Cyrus Afune 'Liondeh'.

When questioned on whether he was a reggae fan, Uhuru proudly said yes while emphasising that his particular brand of reggae was under the 'old school' category.

He went on to reiterate that Bob Marley was one of his all time favorite singers, adding that Stir it up, Redemption song and Three little birds were some of his favorite tunes by the legendary Jamaican singer Bob Marley.

Machakos governor - Alfred Mutua once also alluded to the fact that Uhuru must be a true reggae fan going by his walking style.

“Your Excellency, I know you love music. I suspect you like reggae and I see the way you walk with a spring on your feet,” Mr Mutua told the crowd that had gathered for the 2016 Mashujaa Day celebrations.

At the time, President Uhuru was dubbed the coolest Head of State by netizens.
