Marianne Kitany, the estranged wife to Meru Senator Mithika Linturi requested the court to order the police to probe Linturi for alleged bigamy and forgery.
During the divorce proceedings, Ms Kitany asked the court to ask the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to investigate his husband for being involved in multiple marriages.
On his part, the Meru senator denied the claims citing he was still married to Mercy Kaimenyi and had no capacity to marry Kitany.
Countering him, his estranged wife stated he should, therefore, be investigated for falsification of information, forgery or faking court documents.
"If indeed he did not carry out any divorce proceedings with his first wife Mercy Kaimenyi, he did commit the Criminal act of forgery of Court documents and instruments,” Kitany stated.
Business Daily reports that the wife asked the court to order the Attorney General and Registrar of Marriages to produce records of Linturi's marriages.
She added that Linturi did not initiate an official customary marriage with her or carry out any customary preconditions.
Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, Kitany claimed that Linturi produced legal divorce papers acknowledging that he was not a married man.
However, the wife countered stating that the documents produced in court were fake.
Kitany met Linturi while working at the Deputy President's office in 2013.
