2 Questions Mzee Moi Asked Upon Learning of Jonathan Toroitich's Death

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, on Saturday, revealed how former President Daniel Moi was informed of the death of his eldest son Jonathan Moi.

The first-term governor was speaking during the funeral service of the deceased when he disclosed that breaking the news was difficult.

He explained that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi had been accompanied by some clerics to the home of the former president.

They avoided discussing the topic but eventually they informed Moi that his eldest son had died.

"We were discussing with Senator Gideon about Jonathan's death and how it came. As you can all imagine, when news like this comes, you don't know how to break it.

"So he was telling me that eventually when the death was known and they were wondering how to break the news to mzee. He got Bishop Yego and others and they went and beat around the bush until they eventually they broke the news," Kinyanjui narrated.

He went on to add that Moi only asked two questions after being informed of his son's death.

"The only two questions that mzee asked was one, "Was he in pain?" and two "Did he die in the Lord?" he added.

Jonathan passed away on Friday, April 19, at a Nakuru hospital where he had been admitted.

The former rally driver succumbed to cancer.
