Cunning Woman Steals Ksh 18,000 From Cafe Helena

The management of a popular city hotel is trying to understand how a con woman stole Ksh 18,000 from them without firing a gun.

Nairobi News reports that the suspect, who was captured on CCTV, walked into Cafe Helena and proceeded to the manager's desk.

The woman told the manager, Esther Owino, that she had been sent to ask if they needed loose money.

She claimed to have Ksh100, Ksh50 notes and coins and was ready to help them.

According to the publication, she kept smiling so much so that the manager did not suspect that she was up to mischief.

Owino asked the cashier how much money he had and he informed her that he had Ksh 18,000.

According to the manager, the woman then claimed that she did not have the loose money on her. As such, she asked one of her staff to accompany her and return with the loose money.

“The cashier gave the money to our staff member and together with the woman walked out of the hotel,” Owino narrated.

The woman took the hotel worker to Sasa Plaza along Moi Avenue. Both of them climbed the stairs to the first floor of the building.

He was then told to hand over the money as she went inside one of the rooms.

The hotel worker didn't set his eyes on the suspect again. He waited for two hours before being chased away by guards who were manning the building.
