Kenyans were taken aback by the brutality the police used against the Kenyan Paralympics team that had blocked part of the Thika superhighway on Thursday.
The police, who are said to have been deployed to clear the road due to the traffic snarl-up caused by the protests, were seen in a video manhandling the athletes to the extent of beating them up.
Kenyans took to social media to express their outrage over the issue especially after it emerged that the athletes were demanding their allowances after representing the country in Paralympics qualifiers where they garnered a total of 42 medals.
“That officer is very ashamed after realizing what he has done, he tries chasing away onlookers. Too late Mr. I already took videos of your inhumane and inconsiderate act on disabled victims of corruption by your seniors” stated one Stephen Njobiri after one of the officers tried to disperse the already forming crowd.
Sira Gitau had very few words for the police as she stated, “This is just disgusting to watch.”
“This is the second Team Kenya in a month to have GOK fail to remit their dues and abandoned on arrival. One was the youth team and now Paralympic, both vulnerable groups. This is the low-quality oppression,” explained another angry Kenyan.
The senior officer is seen with a gun in his arm which infuriated Kenyans even more.
Bill Kembo could not believe it when he just wrote, “He drew his pistol!”
“Kenyan police shoot when they want to and nothing happens to them. They are crap. What they did was wrong,” wrote another netizen.
Another Kenyan schooled the police by informing them that misuse of power was also some form of corruption.
