Shalom hospital is in trouble yet again after a seven-month-old baby, whose father is a KBC TV correspondent in Machakos, was injected by a nurse at the facility and died moments later.
Jonathan Musau's son, Ethan Muendo, died while his parents were holding him, hardly two hours after he was injected.
"It wasn't that serious, it was a tiny boil, I wondered why they decided to administer some painkillers, instead of giving him a light painkiller, they gave him morphine," Musau narrated.
According to the infant's mother, Juliana Mutheu, the child had encountered minor burns from the dispenser water on Saturday night but she decided to take him to the hospital on Sunday morning.
"Since the burn was not serious, we decided to take him to Shalom Hospital on Sunday morning," she stated.
It is at this point that the nurse injected baby Ethan so that his pain would be relieved.
"We were told to wait for 20 minutes. The nurse then washed and dressed the wound. We went home but the child was weak," she continued.
The journalist has not yet come to terms with the death and is demanding justice for his family.
On Sunday, police from Machakos police station arrested two nurses, a male and a female after Ethan's parents recorded a statement at the station.
One of the nurses prescribed the drug while the other one administered it.
Baby Ethan's body was taken to Montezuma Monalisa funeral home in Machakos.
Two weeks ago, the same hospital was in the spotlight yet again after a video emerged online of a woman giving birth at the reception of the hospital as nurses watched.
