Sonko Exposes Cartel Offering Fake County Jobs

Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has exposed a cartel offering fake jobs in his county.

In a recorded phone call posted on the governors Facebook page, a devastated lady, whose name is not identified, narrated how she paid Ksh 3,000 to a lady known as Emmy, in the hope of acquiring a county job while working as a casual labourer in a beautification project along Mombasa road.

"The lady called Emmy cited that Abdi, who is a supervisor along Mombasa road, had sent her to collect the money from people," the lady is heard narrating.

She narrated that those who had parted with Ksh 10,000 were listed by a man identified as Abdi as genuine workers.

While stating that Abdi had taken a lot of money from a couple of people, she cited that he did not want them to send it through M-PESA, a money transfer platform..

On his part, Sonko stated that the process of employment was always conducted and approved by the County Public Service board and that conmen should not lie to unsuspecting Kenyans.

"We do not ask for money to employ people. Individual staff or casuals are out to con thousands of unsuspecting jobless Nairobians.

"When the deal is too good, think twice," Sonko advised.
