Liverpool FC's Divock Origi scored an amazing goal on Saturday night, at the UEFA Champions League (UCL) final against Tottenham FC, sealing their place as the best team in Europe in 2019.
Though Liverpool was already ahead with one goal, high octane games such as this usually hang in the balance as the opponent could pull a rabbit from the hat and equalise or turn the tables.
Aware of this, Origi saw the opportunity to confirm his team's lead in the 87th minute of the game, and he did not hesitate to gather the remaining energy onto his left foot to strike the ball straight past Tottenham's goalkeeper.
Kenyans were elated that though Origi plays for the Belgium national team, he was still Kenyan by birth.
Prior to the match, many football lovers were at a crossroads on which team to support as the match had pitted two Kenyans against each other.
Tottenham's decision to bench Victor Wanyama saw many football fans switch their support to rally behind Origi.
Origi has been very instrumental to Liverpool's campaign to clinch the trophy.
During the semifinal match against Barcelona, Origi netted two of the four goals that saw Liverpool trump the Spanish side by four goals.
"In 1986, I played against Mike Okoth Origi, father to Divock Origi in the Kenyan Premier League. Today, I'm glad to see his son, Divock, score an important goal that sealed the UEFA CL title for Liverpool FC," commented JJ Masiga a retired football player.
"Great performance and beautiful play by Divock Origi to score the winning goal as LFC beats Spurs 2-0 to clinch the coveted Champions League Cup. Accolades to Victor Wanyama for playing his part in Spurs' progress to the UCL final. Well played," Deputy President William Ruto posted on Twitter.
