CCTV footage outside a shop in Kisauni, Mombasa captured a gang of 15 young men armed with machetes while on a rampage.
The gang force their way into one of the stores and proceeded to loot all that they could carry while slashing anyone within reach.
Local residents fled for their lives as the gang brutally accosted passersby during their rampage in the city.
The startled residents revealed that they had been living in fear of the gang that has been unleashing wanton terror.
"Kisauni is known for these gangs comprised of very young men and their lust for such violence," Lawrence posted on Facebook.
The incident that took place at around 8 pm left many residents in shock as the gang were donned in white Kanzu's and looked like innocent boys heading for prayers before they unleashed their concealed weapons and ransacked the store.
Motorists were also forced to make quick exits as the mayhem ensued just along the busy road.
The latest incident comes just weeks after a human rights group, HAKI Africa, revealed that another criminal gang has been subjecting residents of Kisauni to extreme terror by threatening innocents with syringes pumped with unknown substances.
Haki executive director, Hussein Khalid urged the police to shore up security within the area as the situation was getting out of hand.
“This new wave of criminal attacks is scary. We are demanding that police heighten security during this month of Ramadhan,” Khalid asserted.
