CCTV cameras have captured two suspects, Rebecca Kinuthia Waruguru and Stephen Ochieng, for allegedly stealing from shoppers in a mall located along Thika Road.
The cameras capture the two arriving at Garden City Mall and later robbing a man who had just withdrawn some money.
On Thursday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested the two suspects.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kasarani OCPD Peter Kimani confirmed the incident stating that they had received complaints from the mall's management about a gang that was trailing their customers.
"The management complained about a gang that has been trailing customers from the bank to the parking lot and eventually breaking into the MVS and stealing the money.
We laid an ambush and nabbed them," he asserted.
The two were apprehended during a joint operation between police officers and detectives led by the Kasarani DCIO Mwenda Meeme.
Reports indicated that detectives are investigating whether or not the suspects have links to the workers at the mall.
In a similar incident that happened in May, a journalist, Mark Mbao, and his wife, Walley Mewange, were accused of stealing Ksh109,069 from their employer, Vincent Nucci.
The dynamic duo, that worked at Italian radio based at Ufungamano House, is said to have used pass cards to access the room with the cash when committing the offence.
The two, who were captured on Ufungamano House's CCTV cameras, were seen going in and out of the building where the money was kept.
