3 Resolutions Kakamega Twins Arrived at After Intense 4-Hour Meeting

The Kakamega twins have revealed their next course of action after they received their results on Saturday confirming that they were related by blood.

In an intense 4-hour meeting at Kose Heights Apartments in Nairobi on Monday, the families of the twins ruled out any plans to sue Kakamega County Teaching and Referral Hospital where the girls were switched at birth.

According to a report by The Standard, the girls, who were supposed to sit for their form four exams this year, will go back to form three and that they would continue to live in the homes they were brought up in. They would, however, be allowed to visit their mothers whenever they wanted.

They were brought up in Kangemi and Kitale.

The girls will not sit for their national exams because of the toll that the DNA results had on them causing them sleepless nights hence disrupting their studies.

“None of us will go to court and that is our agreement as parents. If any other member of the family proceeds to court, let it be their own problem.

“We have forgiven the hospital and we will not seek any compensation. For even if we sue, we do not know who did the exchange of babies. We do not want to sue the wrong people,” stated Richard Olukhakha, the father of Sharon Mathias and Melon Lutenyo.

The father further explained that the girls would continue staying in their respective homes and attend their original schools because of financial constraints the truth had brought them.

“At their age, we cannot separate them anymore. We need to bring them together. During the holidays, it will be for them to decide where they will stay; if it is in Kitale, fine, or if it is Nairobi, we are still okay with their decision,” continued Olukhakha.

“We have decided to repeat Form Three as this saga has cost us a lot in terms of our education. We want to live happily as a family. We should not separate,” added Mevies Imbaya.

The talks were moderated by Kevin Okwara, a politician from Likuyani where Melon Lutenyo was brought up.
