Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has sent a stern warning to senior government officials, who are illegally selling and allocating stalls to unsuspecting traders in various city markets.
On his Facebook page, the governor noted that the officials were selling various market stalls which were still under construction.
"If by any chance you've been asked for money for New Wakulima, Westlands, City Park Parklands, Mwariro, Kirandini and Dandora stadium stalls, then you have been conned," he divulged.
He added that the stalls, which were still under construction, were under the management of the Nairobi County Government.
"The first stall allocation priority shall be given to traders whose stalls or markets were demolished to pave way for the construction of these mentioned facilities," he disclosed.
The governor announced that after the traders got compensated, the remaining stalls would be divided equally to anyone who was interested in operating a business.
"Do not give a bribe to anyone. Leases will be prepared by lawyers and not county staff after the allocation," he noted.
He advised all those who had already rented the stalls to report to the police, citing that stern action would be taken against the county officials.
On Tuesday, the governor also sent a stern warning to former Minister, Cyrus Jirongo, whom he claimed had sold a public playground in South B.
"Look for Jirongo, tell him to look for Horeria(the buyer) and refund him his money or else I will expose him," threatened the county boss.
"He cannot sell a public playground belonging to South B residents, to an innocent old man. He should refund the money plus interest," he declared.
