County Executive Committee(CEC), on Monday, moved to court to block her governor from taking action against her.
The county minister, Lucy Kariuki, obtained a court order that barred Governor Lee Kinyanjui from sacking her.
This comes after the CEC's motion that was tabled to impeach the Youth, Sports and Gender minister.
Past reports state that a majority of 49 out of 71 MCAs had voted in support of her removal.
The MCAs accused Ms. Kariuki of mismanaging the county’s Boresha Barabara initiative which was the Governor’s flagship project, aimed at improving dilapidated infrastructure in 55 wards.
Ms. Kariuki, a former Kenya Pipeline Engineer, was also accused of having a bad working relationship with officers in her department.
Additionally, she had failed to honour invitations by assembly committees, and interfering with procurement processes.
However, Ms. Kariuki appeared in the assembly with her lawyer, denying all the accustions.
Right before the move by MCA's to impeach her, the governor had sought to transfer her to the Department of Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services.
According to Kinyanjui, the move was to further improve service delivery.
Kinyanjui appointed Deputy Governor Erick Korir to head the Department of Roads and Infrastructure in an acting capacity with immediate effect.
