Suba North MP, Millie Odhiambo, declared that she was willing to accept her Zimbabwean husband, Magugu Mabona’s illegitimate children, if at all they exist.
The MP was speaking on Monday, during the ground-breaking ceremony for a new Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Mbita Constituency.
“I have told Mabona to bring back all the children he sired out of marriage. I am ready to take care of them because I don't want any child to suffer because their father and mother aren't married,” she stated.
She urged men with love children (born out of wedlock) to embrace them in order to avoid drama that may arise later, and also to ensure that the young offspring don't suffer discrimination because they are unknown to the family.
The fiery legislator also revealed that she was preparing a Bill that would compel men to take responsibility for the children they sired.
“Start preparing because the Bill will compel men to be responsible.
“All children are creatures of God and they deserve their father’s love. Let no man ignore these children,” she warned.
According to the Suba North MP, if successful, the amendment will force men to declare their children while alive and in cases where they fail to do so, it will be legal for their mothers to declare the child/children's father.
This comes in the wake of new revelations that the late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth had a five-year-old son with a Jubilee nominated MCA identified as Anita Thumbi.
“Mourning with shocks and counter shocks can cause another funeral,” she posted on her social media pages.
