Former Transport and Licensing Board(TLB) Chairman, Hassan ole Kamwaro, has died.
His daughter, Jedida Kamwaro, on Wednesday, confirmed that her father died while receiving treatment in the US.
According to the Star, the late ole Kamwaro succumbed to throat cancer.
In 2010, retired president, Mwai Kibaki, appointed ole Kamwaro chairman of the Transport Licensing Board.
He, together with the former Transport Minister, John Michuki, will be remembered for their fight against errant matatu crews. It is during this time that vehicles were fitted with speed governors and safety belts despite protests from the stakeholders.
Kamwaro served until 2012 when the TLB Act was amended to form the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
In 2013, when Kamwaro was 69 years old, he made national headlines after he married 23-year-old, Eunice Sesian, making her 46 years his junior.
She became his third wife.
It is reported that though some of Kamwaro's children were older than her but they, nevertheless, respected her and referred to her as 'mum'.
