Mututho Launches Scathing Verbal Attack on Betting [VIDEO]

Former NACADA boss John Mututho has come out with a verbal attack on the gaming and betting industry in the country.

Mututho noted that gambling addiction had become a disease that is out to destroy the financial stability of the youth.

In an interview with the media, the former Naivasha MP compared gambling to Malaria and even HIV.

He stated that the Betting Control and Licencing Board (BCLB) should be wound up since, in his view, its existence is tantamount to licensing killer diseases.

"This betting licence board should start winding up as no government would licence a disease as betting is on the same level with UKIMWI (AIDS), typhoid, Malaria and other things," Mututho noted.

Mututho further revealed that gaming had been listed as a disorder by the World Health Organisation in the 11th International Classification of Diseases (ICD).

The former legislator further urged leaders to stop playing politics with gambling adding that there were more than a million reasons not to licence the vice.

He then turned his attention to the youth and urged them to shun the vice no matter what they had been promised in the advertisements.

This comes barely a day after one of Kenya's biggest betting sites announced that they had been given the green light by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)to apply for the renewal of their operating license.
