Sonko Resurfaces With a Bang [PHOTOS]

Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, on Saturday, September 21, made a come back after his two-week absence from the public.

The governor led Nairobi residents in a clean-up exercise at the Umoja 1 Ward and Ruai Open Air Market.

"This afternoon I've joined Nairobians in the monthly clean-up exercise at Ruai area in Kasarani Sub-County.

"My administration is committed towards attaining a clean environment for all the great people of Nairobi City and visitors," Sonko stated.

He also launched the construction of Councillor's Road in Ruai Ward, Kasarani Sub-county, which is set to open access to the area.

Sonko insisted that investigations against him would not make Nairobi residents miss out on services from his administration.

He called on Nairobi leaders to unite and focus on development projects instead of concentrating on speculations and unnecessary tension over the ongoing investigations against him by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Through his social media pages on Thursday, September 19, the governor stated that he was allowing the corruption body to conduct investigations without any interference.

"The anti-graft agencies must be allowed to do their work independently without interference or intimidation. This is also precisely why I have maintained total silence on the matter of EACC investigations," he cited.
