Kabogo Takes on Murkomen Over Kimwarer Dam Money

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Friday, September 27, took to social media to call out Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen over the controversial Kimwarer dam.

Kabogo was replying to Murkomen's written petition to the Senate on behalf of his county over the cancellation of the Kimwarer contract and the scaling down of Arror dam.

"If people did not steal, I am sure a dam would have been done by now. The people to blame are those who dug dams in their pockets," Kabogo tweeted.

Murkomen had earlier also taken to Twitter to announce his latest move.

"This afternoon I present to the Senate on behalf of residents of Elgeyo Marakwet County on the cancellation of Kimwarer dam and the scaling down of Arror dam.

"We shall ensure that in the fullness of time the people of EMC will get justice," he tweeted.

Murkomen has persistently faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta since he made the announcement of the cancellation of the Kimwarer dam contract.

The 4-page petition accused President Kenyatta of constituting an ''illegal'' committee, whose findings he adopted and used to cancel the project, which in Murkomen's opinion contravened the law.

He further claimed that the decision by the president to pick the project specifically, amongst many other projects in the country, was a malicious attempt to deny Elgeyo Marakwet constituents benefits from the projects.

The committee recommended the cancellation of the project citing lack of a feasibility study and the existence of a geological fault on the 800-acre project area.
