Politicians are known to have different strategies of campaigning, some of which may come off as awkward or just funny.
In one such case, Garissa Woman Representative Anab Subow on Friday, September 28, disclosed that she would name her unborn child after Deputy President William Ruto.
While speaking to an audience at Tharaka Nithi County, the woman representative displayed her baby bump and rubbed it, as she told the residents to embrace the deputy president in 2022.
"Ruto ametosha. Nikiweka mtoto ataitwa Ruto. (Ruto suffices. When I deliver my child, he will be named after him)," she stated.
The MP was also accompanied by other Ruto allies including Kandara MP Alice Wahome, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and KirinyagaWoman Rep Purity Ngirichi.
Ms Wahome, who was also at the event, came out guns blazing against Gender CAS, Rachael Shebesh, alleging that the Team Embrace leader was heading for destruction.
According to Wahome, Shebesh had ulterior motives after meeting former Mungiki sect leader, Maina Njenga, and campaigned for ODM's Kibra candidate, Imran Okoth in two separate meetings.
"Shebesh is a public servant after being appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, she is headed for destruction. We want to caution her because she is a woman leader, as we ask her to tender her resignation immediately because she is not working as a public servant," Wahome lamented.
The Kirinyaga Woman Rep noted that she would head to parliament and deal with public servants like Shebesh who are politicking around instead of serving Kenyans.
"We are going to crack the whip on those people that have been appointed or given work by our government and are busy politicking," she stated.
