Uhuru's Appeal to Mariga During State House Endorsement Meeting [VIDEO]

Jubilee Party's candidate for the upcoming Kibra by-election has revealed the details of a meeting he had with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House on September 18, 2019.

Speaking at the official residence of Deputy President William Ruto at Karen on Friday, October 4, 2019, Mariga stated that President Kenyatta asked him to reach out to the Kikuyu community in Kibra.

"I'll talk about my hat, you all know who gave it to me. The president sat me down for a chat and served me water. He told me 'when you go to Kibra, call my community because they won't let you down', he began.

"We also talked on the phone yesterday (October 3) and I told him I would meet you today. When he calls me again I will tell him we agreed to work together.

"Since he and Deputy President William Ruto are development-oriented, when Jubilee wins, you people will have a direct connection to them.

"When you (residents) have a problem I will always take it up with the president to find a solution," the former footballer stated.

DP Ruto also made a similar pitch while drumming up support for Mariga during a meeting with religious leaders from Kibra at Mash Park Hotel on October 1.

He urged the residents to carefully consider who they would vote for, explaining that supporting the Jubilee would translate to more development in the area.

“The projects we have done in Kibra faced a lot of opposition. We could not work freely with the late Ken Okoth (former area MP) because his party would question his loyalty.

“If you vote for Mariga, we will have a bridge that will enable us to come to Kibra as government to transform your lives,” the DP spoke.
