Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has sent a message to Kibra residents about his outburst during the funeral of late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Taking to social media, Sonko explained that he didn't expose the late Okoth's relationship with Nairobi MCA Ann Thumbi with ill intention.
"To the people of Kibra, I would want to tell you that I wanted Ken Okoth's son to get justice and I'm glad that he received it," part of Sonko's excerpt read.
Further, the governor stated that had he not raised the issue on Okoth's memorial service, justice would not have been served.
On August 1, during the deceased's burial, the governor went on a rant on how Ann Thumbi threatened to stop the deceased’s burial unless her son was recognised as the MP's son.
Sonko dropped the bombshell in front of Ken’s widow, Monica Okoth, his brother Imran Okoth, ODM leader, Raila Odinga and other politicians.
“Allow me to reveal Ken Okoth's child from another woman. We don't want anything from the family or Parliament, because we have the ability to sponsor Ken’s child's education.
“In 2013, Ken invited me to medical camp at Kibra. I was with the Sonko Rescue Team and as a governor, let me say the truth. There were beautiful nurses in my team and Ken fell in love with a girl known as Ann Thumbi alias Anita," Sonko disclosed amid cheers from the crowd.
On Thursday, September 5, results from a DNA test carried out to determine whether the son of nominated MCA was indeed his son, confirmed it to be true.
