Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Saturday, October 5, blasted Kenya Ferry Services for falling to retrieve the bodies of Mariam Kigenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu, who lost their lives after their car plunged into the Indian Ocean.
The MP stated that KFS should stop giving Kenyans false hopes on recovering the bodies of the two family members that died on Sunday evening, September 29.
"A whole 7 minutes was lost watching an innocent lady and her child die," he remarked.
Further, the Gatundu South MP urged that KFC MD Bakari Gowa should be fired to avoid a repeat of the same tragedy.
The rescue mission of the two was said to have been delayed by the government, making the deceased kin hire a 54-year-old private rescue diver based in Mombasa.
On Saturday, October 4, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta to visit Mombasa residents and condole with them.
"I urge the president not to wait for Mashujaa Day to visit Mombasa residents, if he could just come and condole with the Mombasa residents during this trying time, I will sincerely appreciate," she stated.
The vocal MP noted that the president would help solve the disaster preparedness issue at KFS once he visited the area.
