MP, Senator in Bitter Spat Over Appointments

Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina on Thursday, November 28, took to Twitter to express his displeasure on how the parastatal boards in the country were constituted.

He claimed that ethnic balance in the public sector was just but a myth, as the boards did not represent the face of Kenya.

"This hypocrisy of inclusivity in Kenya must end! Kenyans wake up! How do you justify filling all positions with one tribe?" the senator tweeted.

He was reacting to the appointment of Macharia Irungu as the managing director of Kenya Pipeline Company and his tweet did not go well with some of the leaders.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu claimed that the senator was out seeking political milage by spewing tribal hate.

"Kwani this country has only six parastatals. We will not allow you to build a profile as a kingpin by selling hate. No way my friend,"  Wambugu stated.

"Don’t think we are stupid ... every policy in Kenya today is skewed towards benefiting your region. Mjinga ameerevuka! (The fools have turned wise) We will not allow you to fool us!" Ledama fired back.

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi asked the senator to use the correct channel to express his frustration, especially because he is a person of influence in the society.

"Senator, please be fair... Jubilee through Uhuru gave your baba (referring to ODM Party leader Raila Odinga) a job. If you have serious grievances please take it through the right channel...you have a very powerful representative on the high table," Ahmednasir tweeted.

The Narok senator did not respond to the senior counsel's statement but finished by stating that "I complain like you on Twitter but for you in the Senate".
