Esther Passaris Goes on Rant After King Kaka's Hard Hitting Song

On Saturday, December 14, popular rapper Kennedy Ombima, known to many as King Kaka, released a song titled Wajinga Nyinyi where he called out the ills in the society perpetuated by the country's leadership.

In his Swahili rap, Rabbit put on blast the country's elected leaders including women representatives whom he accused of pocketing money meant for the distribution of sanitary towels to needy students.

Responding to the allegations, Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris stated that she had no control over the sanitary towels budget.

"He has no idea that we do not control the sanitary towels budget, we only aided the distribution (not all counties received) with the area chiefs. We as women reps have also been following up sanitary towels with the current line Ministry Education," she stated.

Netizens took on the woman rep accusing her of being money-minded as opposed to delivering for the students in which she explained, "Be realistic. Without a budget, one cannot buy any pads.

"The girls are ours. Let us all take responsibility. Before you down your next 'drink', buy some sanitary towels for your daughters or the schools in your neighbourhood. We can't leave it all for Government," she conveyed.

Another Twitter user, in unprintable words, told the legislator to wait for the next election cycle where the electorate would hold her accountable for her failures.

"You insult me for lack of knowledge. It is not I who is the 'mjinga' it is you who has failed in being honest with yourself and seeing the truth that stares you in the face. It might be fashionable to insult me. But I'm not the one failing you, if I'm, tell me where I failed you?" she fired back.

Kwale Woman Representative Zuleikha Hassan distanced herself from the accusations made in the song by stating that she had overseen the distribution of the pads in her county.

She stated that she distributed the pads allocated to her county from the Ministry of Gender.
