Former Machachari actress Wanjiku Mburu has vowed to walk to President Uhuru Kenyatta's office on Tuesday, January 28, after failed attempts to have an audience with him.
Wanjiku has on two occasions appealed to the president to help him bring his brother to Kenya, following his disappearance in January 2013 in Mogadishu, Somalia.
In an appeal posted on social media on Wednesday, January 15, the actress requested her supporters to walk with her to the Office of the President to seek an audience with him.
"On 28th of January is my birthday and on this day I walk for my brother Georgie. Please walk with me, together we will walk far," she wrote on her Instagram page.
The actress, who has reached out to the president twice with no success, told Kenyans.co.ke that her family needed closure.
"I want an audience with the president and to create awareness about the issue," she told our newsdesk.
On Thursday, January 2, through a video posted on her social media pages, Wanjiku stated that her family had sought an audience from relevant authorities over the matter but did not get any help.
"There is no office we have not visited and we were told two things by the government; one, that the government does not negotiate with terrorists and two, that we should not talk about it," she narrated.
"Six years, I have decided that enough is enough and I will speak about it because everything has been said and nothing has been done," she continued.
Additionally, Wanjiku stated that her brother's abductors were asking for a ransom which her family could not afford.
"Even if we were to sell everything, we wouldn't get an eighth of the money they are asking for in dollars," Wambui stated.
Her video appeal came two years after she addressed the president in a letter on August 12, 2017, seeking help in returning her brother home.
