A chief executive officer of a popular Kenyan media station is set to return on TV screens with a new show thanks to the station's rebrand.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, TV47 CEO Eugene Anangwe disclosed that he is set to debut a youth-centered show, Youth Connect, that will air on Sundays at 8 p.m.
He disclosed that the show will seek to connect hardworking youth who have a dream to respective industry players to ensure that they get a chance to actualising their ideas.
"I have been working behind the scenes to ensure every system and structures of TV47 (owned by Mount Kenya University founder Simon Gicharu) are fully oiled and functional and I believe it is time, since we are now at cruising speed.
"There is a great level of creativity and innovation among the Kenyan youth and youth across Africa; sometimes all they need is that connection platform that will connect them to the right people that will help them unlock their potential. There are very few such platforms and youth connect town hall will be one of them," stated Anangwe.
The model of the show, he explained, would involve inviting a youth for an interview before later bringing a panel with the power to transform the youth's idea.
"On the panel, we will have carefully selected panelists whose work is in line with what the young person is working on. Example, a young person producing tones of chilli in a farm looking to be connected to the global chilli market would wish to have the Ambassador of China in Kenya on the panel.
"The show will start with an interview with the young entrepreneur then bring in the other panelists into the discussion. The end game is to see this young entrepreneur’s dreams come true through a commitment to support him and many others like him by the panelists," continued the CEO.
Anangwe has worked in numerous media houses across the region including a stint in Rwanda where he admitted to facing challenges majorly due to language barrier.
"Among the challenges include: Language barrier when I moved to Rwanda in 2008. At the time, very few Rwandese spoke English. I had to learn Kinyarwanda in order to be able to execute my job as a journalist and radio host on Contact FM
"I choose to focus on how each turned out as a lesson that made me into who I am today," he added.
Under Eugene Anangwe’s leadership, TV47 that was unveiled in July 2019 with coverage of Nairobi only has grown to nationwide coverage.
Before relocating back to Kenya, Anangwe spent 11 years working as a journalist in Rwanda’s media industry. At CNBC Africa, the media boss worked as a News Anchor in 2018.
