On Thursday, February 20, Citizen TV news anchor Lilian Muli, engaged her followers in a discussion on toxic feminism, mostly in marriage.
The anchor, through her social media pages, disclosed that she was a very opinionated woman who does not shy away from addressing issues.
"I am an extremely opinionated woman and I have a strong personality, I really really know how to talk back," Muli stated.
She claimed that women, those with an education, were entitled to an opinion when it came to decision-making.
"When you say that a woman is too loud or too out there, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that after all the years our parents took into our education that I am going to sit back and let you watch me not have an opinion? How does that even work?" Muli questioned.
Additionally, the news anchor stated that a lot of husbands' way of thinking had been influenced by how they were raised by their parents.
"Guys believe that when they were growing up, their fathers did not talk a certain way to their mothers, their mothers were home at a certain time, their mothers cooked a certian way, dressed a certain way.
"It is as if you guys are looking for your mothers in us and that's a good thing but I have sons and I hope they won't look for me in their wives because that is unfair and it would be a lot of pressure," she continued.
A section of her followers took to the comments section to give their views about the anchor's sentiments.
"Airing your opinion is not a problem, how you air it whether a man or a woman is the problem. You could have very valid points but your attitude or the choice of words will change the whole view of your sentiments," Susan Njeri stated.
"The tone of your voice matters and gives the meaning of what you're saying not the words you use," Mesh remarked.
"The moral erosion in our society gender equality and the displacement of the man's role as the head have collectively contributed to furthering such narrative," another weighed in.
"I think there is a very bold line between being submissive and being stupid. Some men confuse the two. A woman can be submissive but also have a strong personality which works well for a relationship," Leena commented.
