5 Killed In Fresh Clashes Over Water

Five people have been reportedly killed while about 10 others injured after a clash ensued in Isiolo County on Tuesday.

Pastoralists from Turkana and Samburu communities according to a report on The Nation clashed over water at a watering point in Attan, Isiolo engaging in a nine-hour gun battle.

Confirming the incident Isiolo Deputy Commissioner Julius Maiyo has said four bodies were recovered Tuesday while one other was found at the scene Wednesday morning.

According to one of those injured John Mariao about 100 armed pastoralists ambushed them at the watering point at 11 am Tuesday and started shooting at them.

Nominated Member of the County Assembly Benjamin Lopetet has accused the County Security Intelligence Committee of laxity saying locals had reported the impending attack and no action was taken.
