A Kenyan MP has claimed that Kenya’s first confirmed case of Coronavirus was staged to interfere with the Nakuru Building Bridges Initiative rally scheduled for Nakuru County on March 21, 2020.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri made the claims in an interview with K24 TV on Saturday, March 14, 2020.
He urged the media to investigate whether the government was lying to citizens and alleviate doubts.
“You know how to do investigations so tell us the truth because there is a lot of doubt.
“Maybe they orchestrated the Coronavirus to stop the Nakuru BBI rally, to stop the demonstrations against the government or to disrupt the religious activities because they don’t attend services, you never know,” he spoke.
The previous day, Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina suggested that solving land issues would help get rid of the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Corona Virus can be stopped from spreading in Kenya if we adhere to strict land use policy!
“No more subdividing lands and creating slums in every part of Kenya,” he tweeted.
During a press briefing on Saturday, March 14 at the Mbagathi Hospital, Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has warned against spreading misinformation about the COVID-19, adding that those caught risked Ksh5 million fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or to both.

So far, one case was confirmed while 22 others who had come into contact with the 27-year-old patient were put under quarantine at the Coronavirus facility at Mbagathi Hospital.
23 passengers who had flown into the country on the same flight as the patient who tested positive for the virus have all been contacted and advised to self quarantine, with medics checking up on them daily for 14 day.
