As all Kenyans rally together in the fight against Covid-19 virus, game rangers in South Turkana Reserve have not been left behind.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the KWS game wardens displayed their homemade innovation on how to prevent the Coronavirus through maintaining hygiene.

The homemade contraption is easily replicable especially for individuals in the rural areas or informal settlements who may not have access to piped water. It involves a water jerrican and a lever which when pressed by one's foot, tilts the water jerrican and pours water onto your hands.

It is quite brilliant since aside from pressing the hand soap which sits on a  branch, you don't touch any other surface, avoiding possible contamination.

The awe-inspiring initiative also teaches Kenyans on just how thorough one should wash their hands. The Ministry of Health together with various stakeholders have been sensitizing the public on the importance of washing hands for at least 20 seconds and in a very thorough manner to avoid possible transmission of the Covid-19 virus.

Aside from that, the rangers can also be seen observing social distancing as they took turns to wash their hands.

The genius of this homemade handwashing zone is the fact that since it is next to a tree, the water used does not go to waste but instead, is absorbed by its roots.

Since the first case of Covid-19 was confirmed on March 13, Kenyans from all walks of life have rallied together to beat the Covid-29 virus.

In Kibera slums, one fashion designer known as Avido has taken upon himself to donate face mask to the community, as well as educate them on what the disease is and how one can stay safe.

On the other side of the country in Mombasa, Governor Hassan Joho, on March 26, announced a welfare programme for approximately 200,000 households in the coastal city, to shield them from the adverse economic effects of a looming nationwide lockdown.
