Gospel singer Dennis Mutara was on Sunday, August 9, involved in a grisly road accident at Mutoho, towards Sabasaba area in Murang'a County.
While his car was severely damaged, Mutara survived the accident and escaped with minor injuries.
With blood dripping from his elbow, residents who milled at the scene helped the singer secure medical attention and he was quickly bandaged up.
The artiste stated that he was grateful to God after coming out of the accident unscathed, even as photos of the written-off vehicle were widely shared.
He took time to thank the residents who helped him, and addressed them at the scene of the accident after a large crowd gathered.
The accident inspired a flood of emotional responses from fans of the popular Kikuyu language singer who expressed their relief following what was a close shave.
Some considered it a miracle that the singer survived given the severe damage sustained to his vehicle.
"You still have more work to do on earth....do it gratefully," wrote one Elizabeth Nyaguthii.
"He came alive out of this wreckage?" questioned Sebastian Okot, shocked.
"I wish you a quick recovery. With God all things are possible," wrote Billy Nduta.
Mutara is known for multiple hits under his belt including Wendo ni Muhiu, Kindu wa Nii and Uhonokio. He is also an entrepreneur involved in selling household appliances and other electronics.
The incident also fueled debate on road safety in the country, with several leading artists having been casualties of accidents in recent years.
