Six people were killed and tens of others injured after a grisly road accident occurred along Kisumu- Londiani highway on Sunday..
The accident occurred after a 62-seater bus headed to Kisumu collided with an oncoming Toyota Wish at around 3.30am.
Londiani OCPD Joseph Odipo indicated that preliminary investigations had shown that the brakes of bus failed causing it to lose control.
“The brakes of the bus appear to have failed from our preliminary investigations and from the witness accounts of the passengers who survived the crash." Mr Odipo highlighted.
After losing control, the bus swerved into the saloon car's lane, leading to a collison around a corner.
Mr Odipo further indicated that the police were tracking three drivers of the bus who escaped from the scene after the accident.
The injured passengers were rushed to Londiani Hospital whereas bodies of the deceased victims were taken to Londiani Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.
