226 Test Positive as Covid-19 Cases Rise

226 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,606 tested in the last 24 hours.

This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 103,841.

In a statement on Friday, February 19, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe disclosed that the total tests conducted so far are 1,258,624.

From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 165 are Kenyans while 61 are foreigners. 132 are male while 94 are female

The youngest is a two-year old while the eldest is 98 years.

75 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. 49 are from the Home Based Isolation and Care while 26 are from various health facilities. Total recoveries now stand at 85,512.

Sadly , 6 patients have succumbed to the disease pushing our cumulative fatality to 1,813 .

There are 333 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,150 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

49 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 21 of whom are on ventilator support and 23 on supplemental oxygen. 5 patients are on observation. Another 9 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 8 of them in the general wards. 1 patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 142, Kiambu 16, Nakuru 14, Machakos 9, Uasin Gishu 9, Laikipia 6, Mombasa 5, Meru 3, Nyeri 3, Bomet 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Garissa 2, Kajiado 2, Kilifi 2, Kwale 2, Turkana 2, Narok 1, Nyamira 1, Trans Nzoia 1, Kakamega 1 and Kericho 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 142 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (26), Westlands (20), Kibra (14), Kamukunji (12), Embakasi South and Starehe (9) cases each, Embakasi North (7) ,Lang'ata , Makadara , Roysambu and Ruaraka ( 6 ) cases each , Embakasi East ( 5 ) , Dagoretti South , Embakasi Central and Mathare ( 4 ) cases each ,Embakasi West ( 3 ) and Kasarani ( 1 )
